Who We Are

DMV Camera Watch is an independent transparency project that maps automated traffic enforcement cameras across the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia metro area. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by any government agency. We're just a small team making public data usable.

What We Collect

We collect as little data as possible. Here's the full list:

• Account information (Pro subscribers only): If you sign up for DMV Camera Watch Pro, we collect your email address and payment information through Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers — Stripe handles all payment processing.
• Route preferences (Pro subscribers only): If you set up monitored routes, those route coordinates are stored so we can send you alerts. You can delete them anytime.
• Basic analytics: We use privacy-respecting analytics (no cookies, no personal data) to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are popular. We do not track individual users across sessions.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect, sell, or share:

• Your location data (unless you explicitly set up route monitoring as a Pro subscriber)
• Browsing history
• Personal identification beyond your email (Pro subscribers only)
• Data from third-party trackers or social media pixels

Advertising

The free tier of DMV Camera Watch displays advertisements through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings. Pro subscribers see no ads.

Affiliate Links

Some pages contain links to traffic attorney services. If you click these links and retain an attorney, we may receive a referral fee. This does not affect the cost of legal services to you. We only link to attorneys we believe provide legitimate services. We clearly label these links.

Third-Party Services

• Stripe: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare: Hosting and content delivery. Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdSense: Advertising on the free tier. Google's Privacy Policy.
• Resend: Email delivery for Pro subscriber notifications. Resend's Privacy Policy.

Cookies

We use minimal cookies:

• Authentication cookies: If you're a Pro subscriber, a session cookie keeps you logged in.
• AdSense cookies: Google may set cookies for ad personalization on the free tier. You can manage these through your Google Ad Settings.

We do not use any first-party tracking cookies or analytics cookies.

Data Retention

Account data is retained while your subscription is active. If you cancel, we delete your data within 30 days. Analytics data is aggregated and contains no personal information.

Your Rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. If you're a Pro subscriber, you can delete your account and all associated data through your account settings.

Children

DMV Camera Watch is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll note the date of the last update at the top of this page. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
