Overview
DMV Camera Watch ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We collect as little data as possible to operate the site.
Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information beyond what is inherent in operating a web service:
- Server logs: Standard web server logs may include your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. Logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and operational purposes only.
- Analytics: We use privacy-respecting analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics or Plausible) that do not set tracking cookies and do not build individual user profiles. Aggregate traffic data only.
Camera Data
All camera location data, violation statistics, and revenue figures displayed on this site are derived from public government records — including open-data portals, Socrata datasets, ArcGIS services, and official agency publications. This data is not personal information.
We do not collect, store, or process any data about individual traffic violations, license plates, or vehicle owners.
Case Review Forms
If you submit one of our free case-review forms (the "get a free case review" forms shown on camera, jurisdiction, and article pages), the information you provide — your name, contact details (email and/or phone), the type of ticket, any details you share, and your consent to be contacted — is shared with DMV Camera Watch and participating, licensed traffic attorneys who may contact you about your ticket by phone, text, or email.
This is attorney advertising, and we may be compensated for referrals. Submitting a form does not create an attorney-client relationship. You can ask us to delete your submission at any time by emailing contact@dmvcamerawatch.com.
Cookies
DMV Camera Watch does not set persistent tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage to remember your light or dark theme preference; that setting never leaves your device. Third-party advertising (Google AdSense, where displayed) may set cookies governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Services
- Cloudflare: Our infrastructure provider. Cloudflare processes all traffic and applies its standard privacy practices.
- Google AdSense: May be displayed to visitors. Google's privacy policy applies to ad-served data.
Data Retention
Server logs are purged after 30 days. We do not maintain user accounts, so there is no account data to retain.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by emailing contact@dmvcamerawatch.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
