Privacy Policy
Overview
DMV Camera Watch ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We collect as little data as possible to operate the site.
Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information beyond what is inherent in operating a web service:
- Server logs: Standard web server logs may include your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. Logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and operational purposes only.
- Analytics: We use privacy-respecting analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics or Plausible) that do not set tracking cookies and do not build individual user profiles. Aggregate traffic data only.
Camera Data
All camera location data, violation statistics, and revenue figures displayed on this site are derived from public government records — including open-data portals, Socrata datasets, ArcGIS services, and official agency publications. This data is not personal information.
We do not collect, store, or process any data about individual traffic violations, license plates, or vehicle owners.
Case-Review Forms — Removed September 2026
This site used to show "get a free case review" forms on camera, jurisdiction, and article pages, which collected a name, contact details, and details about a ticket for the purpose of an attorney referral. Those forms have been removed. There is no longer any form on this site that collects personal information, and the endpoints that received them no longer exist.
Submissions collected while those forms were live were deleted in September 2026. If you submitted one and want to know what was held or confirm its deletion, email contact@dmvcamerawatch.com.
Advertising
There is none. This site carries no advertising, no ad network, and no sponsored placements. Google AdSense code was previously present on these pages and has been removed.
Cookies
DMV Camera Watch sets no cookies. We use your browser's local storage to remember your light or dark theme preference; that setting never leaves your device.
Third-Party Services
- Cloudflare: Our infrastructure provider. Cloudflare processes all traffic and applies its standard privacy practices.
- OpenStreetMap and CARTO: Map tiles and plate-reader location data are fetched from these providers when you open a map, which means your browser contacts them directly.
Data Retention
Server logs are purged after 30 days.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by emailing contact@dmvcamerawatch.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
